The groundbreaking ceremony for 88 Nairobi condominium occurred yesterday, February 6, 208. Upon completion, the building will set a new record in sub-Saharan Africa as the tallest. The foundations of the buildings will be laid in Nairobi Upper-hill district. The architectural plans reveal that the facility will have 44-floor residential condominiums that adhere to European Union and World Bank safety standards. Moreover, the facility will also follow a five-star hotel standard.
For a long time, Carlton Centre in South Africa has maintained the title of the tallest building in Africa. Constructed in 1973, Carlton Centre has 50 floors and 223 meters tall. Since 1973, no building has ever exceeded this height. However, upon completion of 88 Nairobi Condominium, it will take over the title from Carlton Centre.
Kenya has attracted many investors who build landmark buildings. President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya laid the foundation of this tallest building in Africa in May 2017.
Pinnacle Tower in Nairobi will also offer luxury apartments and commercial offices. Moreover, it will have an entertainment center and a three-storey shopping mall. It will give views of Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro at its 900 feet. Pinnacle tower will have 70 floors, and its construction is ongoing at Upperhill. Besides, it will have 42 residential apartment floors, three floors of basement parking, 20 floors for grade A offices, and five floors of shopping. Furthermore, it will have a helipad.
